CALL FOR PAPERS
Product Science and Product Technology

THEME:  Progress in Tobacco Harm Reduction Science

The Product Science and Product Technology Study Groups of CORESTA are thrilled to announce this year's conference that will continue CORESTA’s tradition to network and foster new collaborative opportunities. In this spirit, we strongly encourage you to share your scientific research related to tobacco and nicotine products by submitting your abstract(s) on topic areas including, but not limited to:

  • Characterization of tobacco and nicotine products such as test methods for combustible and non-combustible products, comparisons of HPHC levels for non-combustible products vs cigarettes, and stability studies
  • Toxicological assessments such as in vitro / in vivo characterization of non-combustible products, emerging technologies, and application to non-combustible products, Toxicity Testing in the 21st Century, predictive toxicology, and New Approach Methodologies
  • Clinical evaluation of tobacco and nicotine products such as emerging fit-for-purpose biomarkers for the assessment of risk reduction potential of non-combustible products, novel biomarkers of exposure to measure compliance or to differentiate non-combustible product use, abuse liability assessment, and human factors analysis
  • Product use behaviour such as characterizing use behaviour of non-combustible products as actually used, novel methods to determine switching behaviour, emerging technologies to characterize topography of use of non-combustible products, new methods to track product use behaviour in longitudinal studies, and advances in determining consumer reported outcome measures
  • Population Harm Reduction such as risk benefit assessment, real world evidence, population modelling, and post-market surveillance
  • Facilitators and barriers to switching from combustibles to non-combustibles such as misperceptions of harm from nicotine and lack of awareness of differential risk of non-combustible products vs combustible cigarettes, role of nicotine, flavours, and other factors in switching behaviour
  • Product technology such as innovative research that explores the transformative impact of AI and other cutting-edge technologies in advancing tobacco harm reduction, biosynthesis by using tobacco plants, and tobacco bioreactor
  • Environmental impact assessment of tobacco and nicotine products
  • Proposed product regulations and guidelines such as menthol and flavour bans, reduction in nicotine levels of combustible cigarettes, and nicotine pouches safety and quality guidance
