Currency

The official currency in France is the Euro.

There are banks, ATMs and bureaux de change. Most payments are made by credit card, but it is advisable to carry a sufficient reserve of euros in cash.

Tips

Tipping is not obligatory in France. Although it is always appreciated, it is left to the customer's discretion. Unlike other countries, in France the price of the service is included in the total price of the bill.

Power plugs

In France, the most common electrical outlets are type C, E and F. These standards are designed to operate at a voltage of 230 V and a frequency of 50 Hz. If the sockets in your country are type A or B, you will need a plug adapter. It is important to note that the adapter does not change the voltage, so if your devices do not support 230 V, a voltage converter will be needed to enable them to operate at optimum efficiency (you may want to consider a combined plug adapter/voltage converter).
